The Links for May 10, 1997

LookSmart
Frequent contributor Dudley sent this one in. He would have done it sooner, but this site is so good, he'd assumed I would have already used it. Inspired, he fired up my search engine, and saw that I'd overlooked this site.

Dudley recommended this site because there is so much stuff on it - he visits it often.

I'd heard of this site - it's produced by Reader's Digest, but had never stopped by. So - I took a peek.

This site is designed for exploring. Links are listed on "pop-up menus" which ADD to each other. This allows you to back up and explore other local paths, without reloading the page by using the "back page" button. Very well done.

This site fills a need. Instead of looking for something by throwing a search engine at it, you can browse by using a well-designed, well-executed browse page, which is full of great links. Thanks, Dudley - this one is great!

Yosemite
Frequent contributor Taxi Mike sent in this one. He says "It's a site you can visit daily for a virtual visit to Yosemite."

This site is great- daily photos, a Mono Lake Web Cam, directions on how to get there, news, points of interest, etc. It's a great site - I'll be sure to use it the next time I'm feeling cooped up at work for a quick "virtual vacation".

This site is brought to us by The Ansel Adams Gallery - which has a web site well worth visiting as well!! THanks, Taxi Mike, for this one!!

Cajun Ham Radio
Listener and Ham Radio Operator Jim (WB6LWS) sent in this site.

This is a home-brewed site, with lots of links. Well worth browsing around. Sure, there is ham radio stuff here, but there's lots of other stuff - midi files of cajun music, cajun recipes and tons of other stuff, It looks like Bob, the site's owner, spends a LOT of time surfing and bookmarking, and has put it all on the web.

One warning - this page is a slow loader - the main page is a TON of links, with a few animated GIFs. But - you can listen to some spiffy cajun midi while it loads. Be sure to have your sound on - it's a toe-tapper.

Well worth a look! Thanks, Jim, for submitting this one!
