The Links for June 7, 1997

56K.COM
Taxi Mike sent this one in. The title says it all - all the info you could want about 56K modems. You want it current? How about DAILY updates.

This page is all a technical support page should be. Companies, drivers, primers, a glossary of terms, you name it!

Taxi Mike - thanks for another winner!

More Cheap Computer Stuff!
Last week I featured a cheap computer stuff site, and asked listeners to send in sites if they know of better. Listener Kevin sent this in. He warns us it is not easy to navigate, but the prices are the best around.

And BOY - could this site us a good web site designer!

Thanks, Kevin, for the site!

The Cult of Macintosh
Listener Anthony sent this one in. It's a great site, where you can find pretty much any information you need about the Mac.

Cult of the Macintosh is a launching point for great Mac web resources. The page makes very good use of frames. I tend to hate frames, but this page makes 'em work.

If you're a Mac user, be sure to bookmark this one.

Thanks, Anthony, for this fine site!

Our Gang / The Little Rascals!
Regular listener Steve likes my Web Wanderer spots, and sent in one of his own creations. This is a FUN fan web page - "A review of the films and careers of The Little Rascals."

If you grew up on the Little Rascals, like I did, you'll LOVE this page.

I loved the bios particularly - bios about when they were kids, and what they're doing now. There's lots of pictures in the Media Gallery. Steve is also running "A story of Our Gang" - with graphics, from a 1929 book. Fantastic.

From a "web authorship" perspective, this site is a must visit. Steve blends midi, pictures, structure and content into a first-class web page. And unlike 99.99% of the web, the page is actually updated and expanded frequently. Check this one out! Steve - thanks for the excellent donation!

Authenticode 2.0 Client Upgrade
Taxi Mike found yet another security patch from Microsoft for Explorer. The Microsoft site says:

Here are some of the new features that Authenticode 2.0 will bring to you:

The last point makes it important that you download Authenticode 2.0. Otherwise you might begin to see improper warnings while surfing the Web. If you don't upgrade, a number of key Authenticode certificates on your computer will expire.

This scheduled upgrade of Authenticode will renew the certificates and, as noted above, include timestamp checking, which will help prevent the need for you to download further updates of this kind. But for now it's important that you download this update.
