Clip Art
Listener Betty, Web-Mistress of the RGE web site (http://www.rge21.com/) is beefing up the web site, and has been scouring the net for good clipart sites.

This site is perfect for the web master who wants good clipart, but doesn't have the time, talent, or software to create custom graphics. I'm certainly in that category.

Betty says to be sure to check out the area for backgrounds, horizontal rules, decorative lettering and spinning globes on the site as well.

Need animated gifs? The best site Betty found is Rosie's.

Thanks, Betty, for these great web graphics resources!

"Just the FAQ's, Ma'am."
Lone Ranger Nerdley found this FAQ site. He says "Here's a FAQ FAQ, plus FAQ finder!"

Newer Internet users may not be familiar with FAQs. A FAQ is a text file of Frequently Asked Questions. Back before the web existed, the internet consisted of email, Usenet newsgroups and file transfers. No graphics.

If you don't use Usenet, you should definately check it out. Usenet is a bunch of newsgroups - basically, message boards, or email to a group, which relate to a specific topic.

New people find Usenet, or particular newsgroups, all the time. If you are a regular user, you will see the same questions asked over and over. In alt.fan.penn-n-teller, for example, you'd see a weekly "Where will Penn and Teller be playing" etc. It gets very annoying. So - kind souls will collect these Frequently Asked Questions, plus the frequently answered answers, into a big text file, which gets posted periodically.

Bottom line is - these FAQs contain a TON of great information, and they contain the most commonly asked stuff - probably the stuff you need. So - the next time you want to know something about CD Rom drivers, digital cameras, sailing, gambling - whatever - check a FAQ.

Thanks, Nerdley, for this fine suggestion.

Star Facts - An Electronic Journal About the Universe
Listener Pete is the Web Master for this site. Star Facts is a web site Pete created to house his series of articles about the "wonders of the universe and how things work".

Pete tries to show that understanding most astronomical phenomena is not really very complicated. Two examples of the titles of the articles on the website are "The Milky Way - Like a Deep Dish Pizza", and "If the Earth Were a Grape, How Far Would the Stars Be?"

This site is cool. The Web is a great medium for accessing information. But - a lot of the technical material out there is incomprehensible for people new to an area of study. Sites like this show anyone can understand anything, when communicated simply and clearly enough.

Thanks, Pete, for creating this site, and sharing it with KSFO listeners.

The Burrito Page
My friend and co-worker Humberto asked me if I had seen the Burrito Page. I hadn't, so he gave me the URL.

I like this site. It's a fun one. Written in a light style, with a sense of humor - this site provides a nice break from the usual web sites you probably visit. I liked the Personality Reading based on what burrito ingredients you choose. Does it ALWAYS suggest you have a burrito today?

Worth a look. Thanks, Humberto, for suggesting this fun little site.
