SpacePROXY: surf the web anonymously - Kenny

Kenny says: "This is a really neat one. It is a free proxy server that will allow you to surf the web 100% privately. NO information will be sent to any computer other than the space proxy one. It's really neat give it a try."

I occasionally used another similar site before, but that site has gone from free service to charging. It's nice SpacePROXY is still free.

You give up a ton of information when you are on the Internet. This site has a link you can use to test what information you're giving out. From my test, I found the site could tell:

Interesting. Well, SpacePROXY will let us hide that information. Give it a try.

Thanks, Kenny!

Aerofiles: American Aviation 1903-2003 - Dudley

Dudley found this site. If you're interested in aircraft, there probably isn't a better site on the net.

There's an alphabetical listing of aircraft from 1903 - 2003. There's a TON of photos, links to American Aircraft museums (sorted by state), information on National Air Races (1920 - today!), and a bunch of other stuff.

If you're into planes, this is the site for you.

Thanks, Dudley!

Ditto.com Visual Search - Thom from Orangevale

Thom from Orangevale found this cool search engine.

Ditto.com is a search engine that finds images. You enter a word or phrase, and it returns a page containing thumbnails of your search results.

If you click on the thumbnail, you get the image you were looking for. Click on "details", and you get the link to the page hosting the image, the page title, the size, width, and height. Handy

Ditto turns up a fair number of hits, but is not anywhere near comprehensive. Still - it might help you find a picture fast.

Worth a bookmark. Thanks, Thom!

Official Abbott & Costello Home Page - Mailman in Woodland

Can you believe it? An official page!! Mailman in Woodland found it!

I've been an Abbott & Costello fan since I was a kid. This site is put up by the families of Bud and Lou, in conjunction with the Abbott & Costello Fan Club.

The site is designed to keep us up to date on the latest news and information (including new product and video releases; special events; televised specials and marathons; anything and everything pertaining to Abbott & Costello).

The site has what you'd expect - information on the films, audio clips, a game, a buy and sell area, and even the "Who's on First?" script.

It's a must-browse site for Abbott & Costello fans. Check it out.

Thanks, Mailman!

Bagism - Solinas

"Everybody's talking about Bagism..." -- John Lennon

Most of the free-for-all picks today are 3 web developer tools. The name of the site intrigued me, so I went up a level on the URL for the free-for-all links, and I found a cool John Lennon fan page.

From the site: "Bagism is the place for fans of John Lennon and The Beatles to come together and learn, educate, and have fun. It is an interactive site meaning that you will have to be an active participant rather than just being a passive observer. The underlying concept of John and Yoko's "bagism" idea is interactivity among people without prejudice. The Internet is a great place to achieve that ideal because you are judged only by your words -- not by your looks, age, gender, ethnicity, etc."

The site has a Web Chat, Web Boards, a Library, a Discography, a Chronology, Art & Poetry, a Quiz, and other links.

Fun browsing for John Lennon fans. Give it a look.

Office 2000 - Vlad

Friend and co-worker Vlad found this site.

Office 2000 is not Microsoft Office 2000, but it is a pretty funny page. If the Y2K talk is getting tiring, check out this site for some laughs. Very clever.

Free For All!

"Free For All" picks are hot, FREE items or services. It can be software, online services, you name it - but it's got to be free, with no strings attached.

Astronomy software - B. Weed

B. Weed found this free astronomy program, and wrote this review.

He says: "Ever looked up at the sky (yeh, right...in San Francisco?) and wondered what constellation you were gazing at? Want to know where the Moon was aligned the day you were born? Do you just want to learn more about the stars?"

"The you've got to check out Adastra. A totally free program that displays the stars--in real time--from a number of different perspectives...from any day in time."

"You can fast forward and see the Moon buzzing past Cancer and right toward Taurus for a head-on clash. You can zoom in, rotate, and query the sky. Clicking on a star displays a window containing detailed information for that star.

"It's a really fun program. I've spent hours messing with it and you will too."

Thanks, B. Weed!

FrameMaker: web development tool - Solinas

FrameMaker is an online tool which it easy to create and experiment with frames. You can create up to 3 main frames and up to 3 sub frames for each main frame for a total of 9 frames.

You tell it how many frames, how big, set your preferences, then generate a test. If it's what you wanted, you click on "view source", and BINGO - you can cut and paste into your web page. Very simple and easy.

Tablemaker: web development tool - Solinas

TableMaker generates tables, much like FrameMaker makes Frames. It's simple and easy to use.

Be sure to check out the "examples" to see what the options mean.

Colormaker: web development tool - Solinas

ColorMaker is the third of the 3 Bagism web tools. ColorMaker gives you 2 frames - one for setting color attributes, and the other to show the results as a Sample Page: the color of Normal Text, the color of New Links, the color of Visited Links, and the color of Active Links.

You have a pretty big pallet to pick colors from. You can tweak the font site. When done, click on "copy the BODY tag", and cut and paste into your web page.
